Adoption is a lifelong process. Hillside’s Adoption Support Services provide information, referral, education, counseling, and support to birth parents, children, youth, and prospective adoptive parents. We facilitate permanent caring relationships for children within families. Hillside provides support to birth parents, adopted individuals, and adoptive parents before and after adoption finalization. No matter where you are in the adoption process, you can turn to Hillside for compassionate, nondirective advice and support.

Hillside believes that every youth deserves permanency and has the right to have a safe, loving family. We promote honest communication about intentions and respect for decisions. Providing a safe environment and meeting the needs of the child are paramount.

About this Program

Specific services offered include:.

Wendy’s Wonderful Kids – sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, this program focuses on finding families for children in New York State who have been freed for adoption.
Post-Adoption Services – Hillside’s Permanency Resource Centers provide support to families who have finalized their adoptions in Allegany, Broome, Chemung, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Onondaga, Steuben, Tioga and Wyoming counties. The Permanency Resource Centers of Greater Monroe and the Southern Tier provide one-to-one and group support services to both adoptive families as well as families who have been granted legal guardianship and KinGAP.
Erie County Adoption Resource Center (ECARC) – this pre- thru post-adoptive service supports Erie County families through all stages of the adoption process. Services include case management, connecting families to community resources, and parent support groups.
Adoption Information Registry – If you are adopted, if you placed a child for adoption, or if you are the biological sibling of an adopted person, you may wish to learn more about your birth family. Hillside can assist you in connecting with the New York State Health Department Adoption Registry.

Hillside’s adoption services support residents of the following counties: Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Seneca, Steuben and Wyoming.
