HCBS Overnight Planned and Crisis Respite
Download a PDF of this webpage
HCBS Overnight Planned and Crisis Respite services provide short-term relief for primary caregivers and their children. Services enhance the family/primary caregiver’s ability to support the child/youth’s functional, developmental, and behavioral health needs, which can reduce the risk of out-of-home placements. These services are delivered in Hillside NYS OCFS-certified foster homes, with families who are referred to as Respite Providers. The services require participation in Children’s Health Home Care Management Services or Children and Youth Evaluation Services (C-YES). HCBS Level of Care eligibility is also required prior to enrollment. Overnight Respite is not a substitute for childcare.
About this Program
- HCBS/Level of Care eligibility determination occurs annually in order to remain eligible to access HCBS Overnight Respite. This is completed by the Health Home Care Manager or C-YES.
- HCBS Overnight Respite typically occurs 1 weekend/month; Friday through Sunday.
- HCBS Overnight Respite is voluntary. Agreement from youth and caregiver to participate in regularly scheduled respite is required.
- Transportation is required to and from the foster home.
Eligibility
These services are available to children and youth in Monroe and Wayne counties who are under 21 years old, eligible for Medicaid to receive Children’s HCBS, and meet HCBS Level of Care requirements. The children/youth’s Health Home Care Manager will submit a referral in IRAMS.
