Hillside has learned that some data related to its students and education staff was included in a January 2025 data breach that affected PowerSchool, a software vendor which provides the Student Information System used by many school districts nationwide, including Hillside.

Although Hillside data taken from PowerSchool’s system was primarily limited to name and address details, in a limited number of cases some data related to current and former students may have included more sensitive information.

PowerSchool is actively working with law enforcement and cybersecurity experts to investigate the situation and will continue to share updates as they are available. Hillside’s outreach to current and former students and families is directing them to the PowerSchool web page with updates about the breach and details about obtaining free credit-monitoring services as a precaution.
